I was quite impressed that I'd remembered mynwent . However, my troubles had only just begun ....
How do I structure the sentence. Do I use the preterite , or do I use a passive formation ...a sort of " a gun stash got its seizing " using cael ? Oh dear.
And what about "guns stash" .... isn't that the same as " gun stash"? I mean, you could hardly call just a single gun a stash could you?
So ... what about ...
Mae casgliad o gynnau wedi cymryd yn mynwent gerbil
or maybe " Gaeth casgliad o gynnau ei cymryd yn mynwent gerbil "
" Got a collection of guns it's taking in a gerbil cemetery" Hmmm !
It's not very snappy is it. Headlines are supposed to be snappy. I'm not at all sure that the sentence is right anyway. And I still don't know what "gerbil" is in Welsh. Nor how I can beef "cymryd" up a bit ... maybe sticking "gor-" in front of it would do ?
Grrrr. It's tough is Welsh. I'll give it bit more thought. Perhaps Welsh headlines are longer than their snappy English counterparts. I blame the Daily Record for writing headlines which might be grammatically complex in Welsh. It's all their fault.
