In case you are completely out of the loop and ( amazingly) aren't in on it, the idea is to get an English Scrabble set and use the 98 letter tiles ( no blanks, accents are ignored, no proper names because you know why) ... and make the longest Welsh sentence you can.
Yes, it is as simple as that. What indeed could be simpler ?
Well, this more recent "go" has used more (62) letters than the previous one, and is sort of OK grammar-wise ( maybe) (possibly) (efallai).
Can I have too much expensive shortbread, a poor potato, old carrots, bread and rather pleasant milk ?
(Ah ... originally it was tatws and I altered it to taten to use the "w" for something else and forgot to SM the adjective now it's after a fem sing noun ... there's a D down there in the reserves to swap with so that's OK.)
( When you try it you will see that this switcheroo stuff goes on quite a lot)
Now then .. you've spotted an odd thing ... I've used little bits of paper as commas ...the thing is, you run out of A's rather quickly and if you want to "and" things you quickly use them up, but commas get rid of the A's and keep it making sense. I don't know if that's reasonable ... because scrabble is single-word stuff there's no rules about that. Come to that, there's no actual question mark either ! Briwsion !
Another thing I've never really got to the bottom of is the "string of adjectives" thing ... "cacen" is feminine, so the adjective following it is SM'd , but what about the one after that (prid) ? I have done the SM on it, and there is a spare P on the reserves bench, but this is an issue I've never really resolved.
This whole attempt was an example of a simple strategy ... get a basic sentence and then try to slot in various adjectives etc with the letters you have left. It sort of works.
i have another strategy up my sleeve but I'm not sure it is suited to Welsh ! I'll give it a try though.
Hey-ho! What's for sure is that you learn a lot doing this !
But now , let's try to drag some fragment of music up from the vaults ... I don't think I've ever put anything on here from Gwyneth Glyn ... so here she is on Criccieth Pier singing Hogan Glên ....
