I've read a couple of his books and liked them a lot. When I got back I started to read it.
Eventually I came to a story called "Recsarseis Bŵc" .... he describes it very neatly as ..
Sut i shgwennu storis i bobol Cymru os yw'ch Cymraeg yn crap drwy smalio shgwennu fatha plentyn bach mewn tafodiaith a chael getawê.
It's a very funny story ... packed with mashed-up Welsh, mangled words and phrases and odd characters - Anti Poli (bronna jeli)- and beautifully realised.
But .... but ... the whole thing started to make me feel very uneasy .... in effect, I'm the sort of person he is taking the piss out of.... if I had a go at " shgwennu'r Nofal Fawr Gymrâg " it wouldn't be too far removed from his depiction.... which is a horrible thought.
By an odd coincidence, I'm re-reading a French novel which also mashes up the language in funny and interesting ways ... but the author isn't taking the piss out of anybody, he's just playing an intellectual game. It's "Zazie Dans le Metro" by Raymond Queneau by the way.
Half-awake in bed this morning... I had been thinking about it overnight .... I felt that I was doing something that nobody wanted ... that "people like me" dabbling about and making a mess of the Welsh language were actually insulting it.... which I never would do.
Pwdes i ........pwdes i .............pwdes i ................... pwdes i ......... pwdes i
Anyway, I've sulked for a couple of days ... and found some music of a Welsh-affirming nature ... here's Palenco playing Saethu Cnau...
Despite only having a few performances under their belt, Llŷr and Dafydd have been composing songs for the past two years.
The band’s first single was released in August 2014 and featured the songs Bath and Saethu Cnau. The songs were recorded and produced by the band at their home studio.
