LLEN
That's Act 1 of a play composed in a very odd way ! As you have probably realised.
Here's what I did .... I picked up my well-thumbed copy of the Saunders Lewis play "Siwan."
I turned to the first page of the play, and wrote down the first sentence. It was spoken by Alis. the "llawforis" of Siwan herself.
Then I went to the next page ... but the first sentence there was spoken by Alis again ...so I went to the next character to speak, which was Siwan .. so the next line of my play was Siwan's "A'r goron drom ar fy mhen ?"
For the third bit, I tuned the page again... As Siwan was the first speaker, I skipped down to the next speaker, Alis ... her first sentence, " Marie de France, ma dame." became the third line of the play. ...and so it went on, right through the first act, by which time, Gwilym and Llywelyn had also put in an appearance. The final line was Siwan's " Feiddi di mo'i ladd ef. "
The first Act was complete, but very odd ! And, much shorter than the original as well.
This method of composing a piece of text comes from the Surrealists, who devised many ways of creating texts , all of which can produce startling results ! Me being me, I've been having a go at it myself. Acts 2 and 3 are, as they say, still being prepared.
What you will make of it I don't know ... so while you are preparing your comments full of honeyed praise or spiky vitriol, here's some music with Huw M... "Pethe Bach" ...
