First, the Welsh one ... Twrw Jarman ... a smashing read, all about his times in various bands ...Bara Menyn and beyond. Brilliant photographs throughout, showing him getting steadily older, smashing shots of Meic Stevens complete with fringed shirts and long hair. My only complaints ... there's too much pale print on a grey background, very arty I suppose, and it weighs a ton... no good as a bedtime read at all! Terrific For Your Welsh of course.
This is about two books based around Welsh bands ... Geraint Jarman and all his various enterprises in the first one and Super Furry Animals in the other one ... Now for the English one ... all about Super Furry Animals... it tells the story of how they arose from early capers in Bethesda right up to a (limited) sort of Global stardom. Plenty of cunning stunts like turning up at the Eisteddfod in a tank equipped with a sound system, giant inflatables, mad (and dangerous) South American trips, Ffa Coffi Pawb .... where do we start ? Its only drawback ... it's in the thin language. Doesn't qualify as Terrific For Your Welsh... but, being a light paperback, it does qualify as bedtime reading. I've already written about another top pop book .Cerys, Catatonia and the rise of Welsh Pop" .... way back in May ... if you want a look, just click on May 2015 up there in the sidebar and whizz through until you find it. So there you are..... and here, very appropriately is Geraint Jarman a'r Cynganeddwyr with a different version of "Methu Dal Y Pwysau" to the one I put on back in May ... The one saving grace of this blog is that it's always worth getting to the end to see what I've stuck on ...
