Dragwyddol Dad a Thad ein Harglwydd Iesu Grist, caniatâ inni gymorth dy gariad a'th ras fel y gallom fyfyrio'n ddwys a gostyngedig ar ryfeddod y Groes. Dysg ni i loes dy galon Di dy Hun yn nioddefiadau Iesu Grist ; a phâr fod meddwl am ei boen a'i angau drud yn denu ein serchiadau oddi wrth drysorau'r byd. Gwared ni rhag bod yn ddiystyr o'r cariad diollwng a'i rhoddes ei hun trosom er cymaint ein pechod a'n bai; a dyro inni brofiad o rin yr aberth mawr yn glanhau ein calon ac yn cryfhau ein hewyllys. Amen
Now here's what GT made of it ... it's done a few odd things, but it hasn't done too disastrously overall, all considered ...... I don't know where it's got " clingy" from ... and I can't find "diollwng" in any of my dictionaries... crumbs! That's Literary Welsh for you folks ...here it is anyway ...
Everlasting Father and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, grant us the grace of your love and support that we may reflect profound and humble at the wonder of the Cross. Teach us to hurt your heart Di Thyself in sufferings for Jesus Christ; and a pair may be thinking about his pain and death expensive attracts our affections from the world's treasures. Deliver us from becoming meaningless of love clingy gave himself for us despite our sin and our fault; and give us experience the essence of great sacrifice to cleanse our hearts and strengthen our will. Amen
But what I really wanted to see was ... would it turn it back into more or less the same words? Well, let's see... I put that into the "English " side and got GT to turn it back into Welsh again...here's what it got ...
Tad bythol a Thad ein Harglwydd Iesu Grist, dyro inni ras dy gariad a chefnogaeth y gallwn adlewyrchu dwys a gostyngedig ar ryfeddod y Groes. Dysga ni i anafu eich calon Di Dy hun mewn ddioddefiadau dros Iesu Grist; ac efallai y pâr fod yn meddwl am ei boen a marwolaeth drud yn denu ein serchiadau o drysorau y byd. Gwared ni rhag dod yn ddiystyr o ofnus cariad rhoddodd ei hun i ni er gwaethaf ein pechod a'n diffyg; a rhoi i ni brofi hanfod aberth mawr i lanhau ein calonnau ac yn cryfhau ein hewyllys. Amen
Well folks, it look quite a bit different ! And I say .. good ! I'm going to try the same trick with an even horribler and cackier bit of Welsh next ... what fun eh ! But now, music ... Alun Tan Lan and " Dyma'r Diwedd" ...... how true !
