Here's a few examples ... from the "g" section ...
gwarthle n, pudenda ( Isiah. iii.17)
gwelediad , n, seeing, perception, appearance ( Ezekiel i,26)
gwerthydd , n, seller ( Isiah, xxiv, 2 )
gwlanog, a, woolly ( 2 Kings iii, 4)
gwryf, n, press ( Joel iii, 13)
gogyhyd, a, of equal length ( Proverbs, xxvi, 7)
Well, you can understand why they might want to reference the first one to its appearance in the bible, but why the others ? In his introduction, good old J. Bodvan Anwyl writes ... under the title " Scripture References" ..
"The last feature to which I shall call attention is the provision of scripture references. The instances I have given must not be supposed to be, of necessity, isolated, or even rare. They are merely intended to show where a significant and accessible instance of the use of a given word may be found."
Well, that's really sorted that out then. So gwyrth, croeshoeliad, disgybl and the like get no biblical reference, and thus isn't even in his dictionary !!! But really important (not) biblical words like pennu, penffestr, palfalu, pendramwnwgi and pendifaddeu do.
I think something's going on here ... a secret coded message or something similar.
I bet you're all desperate to find out what the actual bits in the bible were ... I'll stick them on here when I've got a bit of time ... but you can do your bit by finding out the meaning for the"biblical words that don't get a reference" and the non-biblical ordinary sort of words that do. Then you'll see what I mean.
Music Time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's a GZM song I've never heard before ... it was on the 1995 version of Patio ... so obviously I've got the older version.
